{Ahem} Allow me to brag

Photobucket
A little while ago - when I was still in London with le Fiance, he decided to cook up a delicious seafood paella with some amazing local ingredients that we sourced at the Borough Market. Let's just get this straight - Warren is the chef in this relationship. I have to google 'how-to-boil-an-egg' and usually just blow them up in the microwave anyway.

So we he decided to start our delicious Sunday-cook-a-thon around 11am so that we could have a nice late Sunday-seafood lunch. We started early because there was a lot of prep work - especially with seafood, because we had to wash the calamari, scrub the mussels and de-vein the prawns (ie: take out their poop-bags). (I got my mom to phone me during this process so that I didn't have to help.

"international call - gotta go".

Then when all the gross jobs were finished we he took the ingredients outside to whack onto the new skottel. I offered to help:

Warren: yes, ok. you can just sit there and drink the wine.

Mr Warren got his cook on:

Warren (because he was jealous of my sitting-on-the-chair-and-wine-drinking) then decided to give me the job of cutting the lemon grass.
me: ok... well... can you help me?
Warr:  you just do it!
me: no.. but like... which side is it?

Dear Future Children
This is what your mother looks like when she is "cooking"
Pay close attention to the pictures above because you won't see it often.
Regards
Yoh momma.

Warren fried some stuff, then he added some more stuff, then he cooked up that stuff with the rest of the stuff. I drank the wine.

Then My Man had a brilliant idea -

The Warr: why don't i get a few pictures of you mixing some of this stuff then you can put it on your blog and pretend that you cooked it.
Che: oooooh!! good one!

he's a nice guy, that one.

"so then you very carefully add the... (warren, what is this again?) ok, so you add the prawns to the mussels (these are the mussels, hey?) ooh im getting into this!... do you think i should just add a bit of that sauce over there?!"
"No, it's ok, we've got the the picture just put down everything - you can go back to drinking the wine."

You will also notice from these pictures that it is now well past lunch time.
it is also in fact well past my supper time too.

Finally after an epic day of cooking (warren cooking, me annoying him) we sat down to tuck into THE most delicious feast. We had also amassed quite a crowd of spectators in the courtyard who had been watching and smelling the delicious cook-a-thon - coincidentally the spectators decided to come have a "chat" right when it was time for nomming. It honestly was the most fragrant delicious combination of flavours I have ever sampled in a seafood or anyfood dish: lemongrass, chili, garlic infused olives, sundried tomatoes, mussels, calamari, fresh cream, thin noodles and prawns. And I'm not just saying that cause i'm biased - We have a whole bunch of "chatters" who will concur.

I had seconds.

and maybe thirds.

(and i finished what was left in warren's bowl)

and then we locked ourselves out the house and had to break into an open window.

It was maybe my wine drinking that did that.

Maybe.
