(Chef's note: At this point - the shell is still on. You know, preserve the flavours.)
Yes, this is a true story. Yes, I put an egg in the microwave. Yes, it still had the shell on and Yes, I know. There was egg everywhere, including the pocket of my jacket which was hanging on a chair near the microwave. The exploding-open of the microwave door also knocked over a giant glass vase filled with water which smashed all over the kitchen floor. Yes, it was a disaster and Yes, I will never put a shelled egg into the microwave again.
My friends are so lovely about helping Che to eat normal/cooked meals. Kristi is forever bringing around "real food" for me to eat, Kerry has me over for dinner, Greg bought me a special device for boiling eggs and yesterday Modie dropped off some delicious pasta for lunch. Thank you to my lovely friends. You are wonderful :)
Egg + Shell + Microwave = Do Not Try this at Home.

you are priceless. Once someone did that in the res diningroom with their fried egg to reheat it. it exploded so loudly that everyone stopped eating and turned to look at her. shame.
Oh, so you can't put a fried egg into the microwave either?! I didn't know that. really.
Oh dear... I spoke too soon earlier when I said something smelt good.
Prick the shell Che' prick the shell... oh yes and remember.. casserole dishes in the oven.. Pots on the stove top !
Hahaha, this has happened to me! The only difference is that the egg exploded in my hand right after I took it out of the microwave.Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING)was covered in egg...I even had to pick bits of boiled egg out of my eyelashes.
And just so you know...if you prick the shell they still explode. Been there, done that.
HAHAHA! Alicia! We should be friends. let's make eggnogg...
O wow!! This made me laugh soooooooo much! Thank you for making my day. :D
haha you're welcome and i hope you have learnt (my) valuable lesson from this episode! haha
No Joke, I did this exact same thing (blonde moments), except I didn't put mine in water, I just put the whole egg in the microwave, and it didn't blow up until I peeled it and tried to slice it. The egg exploded IN MY FACE. I had burns on my face and chest for a week! You are NOT ALONE. xx
hahaha aaaaah Fellow Sad Bride - I feel your egg-sploding pains! haha- at least it has taught us the very valuable lesson in microwave safety! x
