Dear Blogspot

 Dear Blogspot,

Over the past four years or so, you have welcomed me with open arms to the world of blogging.
 photo dearblogspot2_zps037f12d2.jpg

You were easy. You held my hand and gently helped me figure out this crazy world of "blogging" that was so new to me. You weren't fussy, you weren't complicated and neurotic. You were simple, you were friendly. It was easy-going and we got along like a house on fire. We clicked like a new-home-owner-browsing Pinterest. Yes, there were those moments when you annoyed the crap out of me - but every new relationship has it's glitches woudn't you say?

 photo Dearblogspot3_zps32aecab7.jpg

Yet, you hung around, dear old blogspot, and guided me through the stormy seas of blogging. You've opened up doors to me that I never even knew possible. You gave me the platform to build the most incredible community of support, through your platform I have made incredible friends with people all around the world, I have connected with people online and off. You powered me through winning two different categories at The South African Blog awards. It is through this tiny blogspot, that I have featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine, Seventeen Magazine and various other print publications around the country. You have inspired me to launch an online store. You were there when I first opened up indieBerries to sponsorship

 photo Dearblogspot1_zps49609628.jpg
You have inspired me to follow what my heart is telling me to do. You have given me a network of people who I feel are cheering me on, and that is something that I be forever grateful to you, humble blogspot. You have given me dreams, you have given me wings.

 photo dearblogspot_zpsc196686f.jpg

But now, tiny blogspot, my wings have grown too big for this little space. You see - I am more than this blog. I am more than these daily ramblings and funny cartoons: I have services to offer; I have products to launch; I have talent to show; I have advice to give; I have stories to tell; I have laughs to procure; I have cartoons to create; I have wit to share.

I have dreams to chase.

And now -  it's time for me to say goodbye to you Blogspot. I will miss you. I will miss your big bright orange smiley face, I will miss your comfort and old familiarity. You are all I have known in this crazy blogging world and you've shown me an amazing time. Of course I am scared to leave you, to go out on my own... but it's time for me to move forward, onward, upward to greater things.

I'm letting you go soon - because you're not right for me any more.
We've outgrown each other - you and I, and no hard feelings tiny blogspot -

 it's not you -
It's me.

On that note.... some big and exciting announcements coming this week everyone! Stay tuned!

The Prosecco Diaries

 photo processo12_zpsb54a5a5c.jpg
A few weekends ago, Sarah from The Prosecco Diaries invited me to a Prosecco Tasting event. She had me at "Prosecco Tasting" but for good measure she decided to throw nail painting, girly-blogger chatting, tasty treats, hair styling and amazing goodie bags. Um. Let's just say I cancelled all my previous plans on the spot.

 photo processo5_zps3e9341c6.jpg
The event was held at The Painted Lady in Shoreditch - which is an awesome quirky retro salon and I LOVED all the epic decor including fairy lights, vintage posters, old school record players (that were actually playing) and shelves that looked like they have been gathered together by lush Magpies. Definitely pop in for a treat if you are in Shoreditch. And if you're not in Shoreditch, You should go to Shoreditch.

 photo processo2_zpsa0690acf.jpg   photo processo4_zps8b6a7211.jpg
On arrival we were served Sarah's "Signature Cocktail" and sat around chatting at leisure, sipping cocktails, until we were individually called to have our hair styled. (Like real freakin princesses I tell you).  photo hiar_zpsef19a2aa.jpg
I opted for a boho-braided style - which was a braid around the crown of my head and ended in a long fishtail plait down the one side. I don't know how those beauty-you-tubers do it, but I would never be able to pull off something like this myself with out the help of several extra pairs of arms, and some kind of Harry Potter "eyes-through-the-back-of-your-head-glasses". The staff at The Painted Lady were all so awesome and were so helpful in recommending styles that would match with our outfits -
 photo prosecco1_zps7f6e9c53.jpg photo processo7_zps89b3f10e.jpg
After hair styling it was off for nails - SO MANY COLOURS TO CHOOSE FROM:
 photo processo8_zps6336e8e5.jpg photo processo6_zpsb51dfc8f.jpg
....And from all the colours in the rainbow - I went for charcoal grey. lol.

 photo processo16_zps210d7c17.jpg
(Above left: Nicole from A life less beige - with her fancy do! Right: Some of the awesome products at The Painted Lady)

photo processo11_zps13d71990.jpg Then, onto the treats of the evening - cheeses of all variety, cupcakes of all deliciousness and Prosecco FOR ALL! (out of dainty vintage tea cups, as you do.)

photo processo10_zps09d3d926.jpg Sarah had organised us our own scoring sheets and we took notes on all the Prosecco on offer rating them out of ten, and giving them scores based on dryness, fizz, fruitiness and any other flavours.
 photo processo14_zps8944c3ed.jpg    photo processo13_zpsb3a6dfc2.jpg
I was quite partial to the Marks & Spencer Zardetto NV - (but to be fair after the first round of Prosecco teacup tastings, My ability to describe each one went from "Mmm... Yes, Dry, fruity, peach finish, quite bubbly, good nose...." to "This one is colder the last one"

 photo processo15_zpsc3243726.jpg
At some point in the evening The Resident Fox came out. But don't worry, it was tame.
And it made for fabulous picture taking opportunity.

 photo processo9_zps5b93a022.jpg photo prosecco3_zps1706d253.jpg
Sarah completely spoilt us with the incredible goodie bags that she organised for us all! There is no way I could do justice by describing all the goodies - so here are some snaps and links for you to see for yourself! (All these goodies are currently sitting beside me as I type, and I'm part drooling over them and part trying to not knock my tea all over them).

Inkwear || Gorgeous packaging || Lipcote

 photo goodiebag3_zps4825cc96.jpg

And loads of other awesome discount codes and vouchers for a whole host of fun competitions - (Lipcote are actually running a win-a-lipstick-a-week on their Facebook page right now!)

AMAZING goodies bags...
Am I right or am I RIGHT?!?!
So lucky!
I had organised with the husband to come and meet me after the event so that we could "go out on the town" with mah-hair-do and fancy nails - When he arrived outside the salon, I got up to leave, when suddenly all the girls ushered him in and handed him Prosecco. So there he sat, in amidst hair-styled, prosecco-guzzling, fancy nailed girly-girls listening to blogger talk.

What a trooper.

 photo hair2_zps6f7b8504.jpg
Eventually we dragged ourselves away from the fun (probably I was more sad to leave than the husband) to go have some dinner in Shoreditch. The longer I kept my boho-braid in, the longer it grew on me and the more attached I got to it - So I totally milked it for all it was worth, slept the whole night in it and only took it out at about 5pm the next day. (Thanks Painted Lady - i loved it!)

 photo bohohair_zps0594f9a8.jpg
And THIS is what your hair looks like when you sleep in Boho braids.

A huge massive thanks to Sarah for organising such a fab event! To the hosts at The Painted Lady and also to all the awesome sponsors who supplied delicious treats and goodie bag gems!

You can pop over to Sarah's blog to get a full run down of all the Prosecco we devoured and also a bit more detail about all the epic sponsors!

indieBusiness: What makes a good blog?

 photo businessbitesgrey_zpsf751da2d.png
This is the second post in the new "indieBusiness Bites" series. The first one I posted here about the importance of a blog editorial calendar (which I want to discuss further on the blog - after chatting about it with Keri).  As I start developing my own creative business, I find that I have more and more to say on this "indieBusiness" topic - but I would hate to BORE YOUR PANTS OFF - so for now, I will keep it to posting bi-weekly- on Tuesdays. (Will see how it goes and gauge your response).
 photo voice6_zps62fe9752.jpg
(let me know if these posts bore your pants off)

Today's topic I want to talk about is: What makes a good blog?

Make no mistake - I am not a "pro-blogger" and I don't pretend to know everything about what makes a blog FANTASTIC, but I have been blogging for a few years now, I have read many (many) articles, books, blogposts about it and I've recently attended The Blogcademy in London which really solidified all the things I have already come to know about what makes (in my opinion) a good blog. Bearing in mind, that blogging (by nature: a web-log, ie: a log of your life) is an extremely personal thing and what one person likes another may not. So I'm just sharing what I know - and hopefully you will find it useful to apply to your own blogs.

What makes a good blog?

 photo voice4_zps7e58cf9c.jpg
1. A good connection to the internet.

I originally wrote this as a joke because for the last few days I have really been fighting with the internet. (In fact, yesterday I was unable to post anything and of course it was also the day that I had 10 000 emails to send). But the more I thought about it, the more I realised how true it was - not in the sense of having a warp-speed wifi connection - but rather - "being online". Blogging is about sharing and connecting with others online. You need to "be online" to be engaging and interacting with other bloggers, to be seeing what is current in the blog world, to build your social media networks, to establish yourself via different online streams: Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Bloglovin. Think of these different social media avenues as you building your little online army - who you can send out into the internet world to capture draw people to your blog. The stronger your armies: ie: the more training you do, the more engaging with other soldiers, the more learning about different strategies and plans of attack you do - the easier it is for your little soldiers to bring people back hostages readers to your bloggin'-base camp.

How excellent am I at analogies, hey?!

 photo voice2_zpsd155657e.jpg
2. Pictures paint one THOUSAND words.

Take good pictures for your blog. It's common sense really. You don't need a fancy camera (although they really do help) - there are so many amazing camera apps that can really up your iPhone taking picture skillz. I recently blogged about Studio Design App- which is a whole picture editing/design-smashing app all in one. VSCOcam is another really good picture editing app. You already know about Instagram. (What, were you not paying attention above?).

HANDY HINT: DO NOT MAKE YOUR PICTURES SMALL. No one wants to squint when they get to your blog. No one wants to feel like they need glasses or magnifying glasses to read your blog. That makes people stressed out. And do you want someone to feel STRESSED OUT when they read your blog? No. Bottom line - make the pictures bigger. Also - make sure that whether they are horizontal or vertical they take up the same amount of space. There are free online pic editing sites that can do this for you. USE THEM.

 photo voice3_zps4c41370a.jpg
3. Quality, People.

Very similarly to good picture taking is "quality of posts" this can be applied to good picture taking, good content, good DIYs, good everything. A Beautiful Mess (one of my all time favourite blogs) is a perfect example of quality content. Many times they will reference to DIY projects that they have not posted because they are not "exactly right". They have favoured quality over "whacking it up because we need something to post". Their pictures are also perfect examples of good photography and photo editing.

  photo voice1_zpsc536e4d9.jpg

4. Find your Voice.

Blah blah fish paste - you have heard it all before. But lately, I have seen a lot of "lifestyle bloggers" fall into the trap of "lifestyle blogger voice" - which is exactly the same voice as the lifestyle blogger voice on the next page. Even that sentence was boring. Yes, we get it, you live a dreamy life. So do I - (when I have internet connection/my skin is not breaking out/I have enough sleep/I don't have to visit the dentist/have been getting enough exercise/am feeling on top of work stuff etc). Your life can be as dreamy as you wish to portray it. And that's fine, it's totally your choice if you wish to be a lifestyle-carbon-copy. At the end of the day, whatever you choose to portray - make sure you INJECT it with your own freaken' voice. Sydney at The Daybook blog lives a pretty sweet life if you ask me. (I have assessed that it is basically sunshine and roses all the time) but her blogger voice is so quirky, unique and interesting that you go back for more if only to read about "the girl with the perfect life" who gets toothpaste in her eyeball. Yeah, you wanna read that now don't you? So if you'll excuse me, I must get back to my perfect little cupcakes and bottle of champagne.

 photo voice5_zpsb28f1cd4.jpg

5. Niche blogging.

Don't be afraid to blog exactly within your niche field. I'm sure you have heard your high school teachers drum into your head "write what you know". This can be in terms of interests, hobbies, experiences, work. YOUR life is completely unique. Granted, it may take you a bit longer to round up your ideal audience and it's unlikely that EVERYONE IN THE WORLD will love your blog - but by having a niche blog - you will really target the very specific audience to which your blog is intended and their affinity for your blog and content will be very strong. Pugly Pixel (another fave of mine!) is a perfect example of an amazing niche blog - Katrina blogs about blog design and shares lots of photoshop tutorials - which, if you don't have photoshop or a blog you may struggle to connect with it - but for those people who love her blog (me), they REALLY love it. Rock n Roll bride is also another excellent example of niche blogging.

6. Help others, fulfill a need.

Just about all of the blogs I have mentioned above fulfill some kind of need or provide readers with some kind of help - whether is be in the form of DIYs (a beautiful mess), tutorials (Pugly Pixel) or wardrobe styling (The Daybook). The list of blogs that "fulfill needs" are endless - even if you may not even realise that they are fulfilling a need of yours, they are: it could purely be satiating your voyeuristic nature, or providing artistic inspiration, or helping you with tips on creative business management or giving you a much needed LOL at the end of the day. Why did you click on this blog post? Because you saw the Blog title and thought that there may be some information which you might find to be useful. It is fulfilling your need to improve your own blog.

Have a little ponder over some of your favourite blogs and see how many of these things are true. Do you have any awesome examples of good blogs to share? Please leave a comment below or tweet me or pop it up on the Facebook Page. (Ps. There is a lot more I can say on this topic - so let me know if it is of interest to you :) and I also have loads more examples of good blogs to share!)

In other news: by popular demand (woohoo!) we have re-opened The Photo Hunt ticket sales for another day - this is the last day you can get your ticket for Saturday, in Shoreditch - so snap them up here! I am busy working on the Hunt Task lists - it's going to be loads of fun!

In other, other news: I have a new main sponsor up this month - so go check them out! If you are interested in sponsoring indieBerries for the upcoming months - click here for details.

Business Bites: The importance of a Blog Editorial Calendar

Hey everyone! I didn't post anything yesterday on the blog because I was flying home to South Africa! I arrived last night (exhausted) and it's been so lovely to be home with the folks. (Although, granted - my whole childhood bedroom has been converted into a lovely little guest room - which is the polite way of saying "HAHA. You've TOTALLY been kicked out the nest!" So anyway - I'm currently sitting here typing this naked because all my clothes and shoes are packed up in boxes.

For those of you who have been reading indieBerries for some time - will know that whenever I fly I always find myself sitting next to the BIGGEST aircreeps. (see HERE and HERE for proof). I had a very mild flight home this time - so I'm pretty grateful about that!

Without further delay - here is the first version of indieBusiness Bites and the importance of having a blog editorial calendar - plus there's a free calendar download at the bottom! (Also don't forget to check out some of the new indieBerries sponsors {right sidebar} - so excited to have them!)

 photo businessbitesgrey_zpsf751da2d.png photo edcalendar1_zpse36e60f2.jpg
There are loads of blog-posts circling the internet about the importance of a Blog Editorial Calendar. Shauna Haider, who I met at The Blogcademy earlier this year shares her views about Blog Editorial calendars here.

I searched around online to find an Editorial Calendar that would suit me and found that most of the existing blog calendars were not necessarily what I was looking for or what would suit me.

Lots of the printable calendars I found only offered a week at a time (too much printing) or super brightly coloured (too much ink wasting) or stuff that I found redundant - (ie: aren't you promoting your stuff on social media?) So, long story short: I whacked up my own version.

 photo edcalendar5_zps711e9b65.jpg
What I have found to be useful about having an editorial calendar is that I can prepare posts beforehand. This may seem straightforward - but it makes a huge difference not sitting the night before (or day of) and thinking oh geez. what do i post about? Having your editorial calendar out in front of you helps you to hit major events/holidays etc. For example - If I had not seen my editorial content in a calendar format - I would not have picked up that September 24 is actually National Braai Day in South Africa - but seeing it in a calendar - allowed me the time to create a cartoon post - which was specifically geared towards Braai Day - an editorial calendar helps you to stay current: that's what the internet is all about.

 photo edcalendar6_zpsa6890077.jpg
In order to keep your readers engaged and interested, it's important to vary your content. For example - say you are a lifestyle blogger and you post about your outfits, your photography and your recipes - it's a good idea to colour code the category of blogposts - so that you can provide your readers with varied topics of interest over the week and month. By having your posts colour coded and laid out for the month - you will quickly be able to see if you have 3 of the same types of posts all smashed up together.

 photo edcalendar2_zpsb412740f.jpg
Colour-coding your stuff helps you to highlight similar features -
(above: my green washi tape is used to denote a cartoon blogpost)
(Hmmm... two cartoons right next to each other... perhaps I should bring the Thursday post forward to Wednesday.. etc)

 photo edcalendar3_zps9ac3a7c2.jpg
On my calendar, I have included a mini goal-tracker - more for my personal records to see how far I have come in the month. Blogging these days is so very "number-heavy" ie: "How many followers do you have? How many pageviews? Oooh, you only have 3 likes! Poor you. Look at me I have so much more! etc" - which I think negates the purpose of blogging in the first place. I was slightly reluctant to put this on the calendar at all - but I think it's good to see some kind of progress - even if it is only ONE new interested and engaged follower. At the end of the month you can put your new stats into the space provided.

If you have an easy-to-see list of all the posts you have posted in the month, you can have a look at your blog stats and make notes as to any days with particularly high (or higher than normal) blog stats/page shares - mark these off against your editorial calendar to see the kinds of posts that are popular with your readers - and you can soon start developing a more honed blogging direction based on what you know works well for you and your readership.

 photo edcalendar4_zps2069a9f2.jpg

Because I wanted to save my poor-little-printer and the fact that this is something I will be printing on a regular basis, I decided to design mine very simply and in black and white.
I am a pen-and-paper-gal through and through, (I like having a piece of paper that I can doodle on, make notes on and that I can stick into my notebook and take around with me on my travels) #moleskinAlert I also like being able to see a complete month at a time - so this calendar option works the best for me.

If you would like to download my version (link at the bottom), here are a few pointers on how I use it:

Place at the top: For your blog name (or company name if you are using this as a general calendar)
The block on the left hand side - is for you to fill in the date.
Right hand side column: For you to tick off your blog post, once you have prepared it. I mark a line through the entire block when the post is published and it has been promoted via social media.
Notes/Ideas: For you to jot down any future blog post ideas that you may have as a result of the posts you have already covered in the month

For those of you who prefer managing your content calendars online, you can whack them up into your desktop calendars or create a Google doc which you can refer back to. For Wordpress users there is also an Editorial Calendar plugin which you can use to keep yourself and your content organised.

Other cool printable Blog editorial calendars from A Fabulous Fete, Laura Winslow Photography, Create Like Crazy, Reasons to skip the Housework and Kidspot - go take your pick!

Otherwise, you can download the indieBerries version by clicking here.

A few changes around here...

After attending The Blogcademy a few weeks ago and being inspired to re-think/re-brand and re-launch indieBerries as a platform for my creative business, with a stronger, more focused direction - I have had a good think about some regular features which I wanted to share with you today.
 photo cartoonwords_zps59286782.jpg

Apart from the usual "things" you can expect to find on indieBerries - Cartoons || Personal Stories || DIYs || Funny Moments || Extreme Washi-taping - you can now look forward to some of these new features -

WEEKLY and BI-WEEKLY FEATURES:

 photo funfacts_zps6989df08.jpg

Fun Facts Friday!

I have been running the "FUN FACTS FRIDAY!" segment for 4 weeks now - (has it already been that long?!) It has been really well received by everyone, so I will continue to post a list of Fun and Random facts every Friday - the perfect timing for you to take your new random knowledge into your weekend dinner party conversations and make yourself seem really well-read and filled with random knowledge. You can thank me later.

 photo educateyourself_zps069686ce.jpg

Educate Yourself

I have been playing around with the idea of doing a weekly (or bi-weekly) "EDUCATE YOURSELF" feature - this would include things like learning to use grammar correctly, common spelling mistakes and other basic things you should already know. These types of posts have been popular in the past, but as I said - I'm still just playing around/thinking about including this feature - since there are only so many ways I can tell you "the difference between Too, To and Two". I may extend this "Educate Yourself" feature to include cartoon posts on "How to change a tire" or "How to change a lightbulb". We'll see how it goes...

 photo businessbitesgrey_zpsf751da2d.png

indieBusiness & indieBlog Bites

As I move towards setting up my creative business I want to share my journey with you. In the "indieBusiness Bites" posts I will be sharing any small-business related tips that I have found useful and any resources that I have found handy or have created for myself - (I have the first indieBusiness download ready for you this coming Tuesday!)

Initially I had thought to separate this feature into "indieBlog Bites" and "indieBusiness Bites" - but I think that these days having a creative business is so often linked to successful blogging and online presence that it would almost be silly for me to separate them. For now, I will be running this feature bi-weekly - every second Tuesday. Some weeks I will be sharing blogging-related tips, other weeks I will be sharing more business-related tips. Having said that, I am no Warren Buffet and I can almost guarantee you that the things I will be posting are not going to catapult you into a five star yacht on The Med. But they may give you some tips on effective time management, finding your own voice and being more pro-active in what you were meant to be doing.

MONTHLY FEATURES:

 photo peopleofawesomeness_zps7c02d3ba.jpg

People of Awesomeness

I have recently opened up indieBerries to outside sponsorship - for bloggers, small business owners and awesome people to advertise on indieBerries. (I already have 5 awesome sponsors this month - (Midlands Musings, Berry Diaries, Midnight Rambler, Deecoded and Ellie Love) YAY! You can click over to their blogs on the right and give them some love!) Every month I will be doing a "Monthly Sponsors Feature" introducing you to these "People of Awesomeness" and sharing some of my favourite blogposts/products/services from them. This post will go up on the first Wednesday of every month - so look out for it next week! I can't wait to share my favourite blog-posts from these lovelies!

For the sponsor who has booked the Main Sponsorship slot - (this month: Midlands Musings) there will also be a solo cartoon feature post - I'm really excited about this month's main sponsor - because I know her in actual real-life flesh. Get excited for the cartoon post for this lady - HINT: it involves wine. All the wine.

 photo clickfrenzy_zps974ff983.jpg

The Click Frenzy

When I first started blogging - I absolutely loved scouring the internet looking at different blogs, reading up and delving into the lives of strangers, their businesses, their arts, crafts and generally being inspired by the awesome people hanging out in cyberspace. Over the years I've stopped reading as many blogs as I used to (time/life/actual books/husband/laundry/etc). I want to make an effort to re-visit some of the old blogs I love and share some of my favourite posts with you. At the end of every month, I will be putting together a list of my favourite posts from around the internet - and hopefully you will discover some new blogs to love! This will be on the last Friday of the month (as an additional post to the Fun Facts Friday!)

 photo cookingnoobs_zps2b78c5b8.jpg

Cooking for Noobs

If you have been following indieBerries for some time, you will know that I completely suck in the kitchen. "Suck" is such a horrid word to use - but there really is no other way to describe it. Wait, let me tell you about the time I blew-up an egg. I have been wanting to do a Monthly Video Series on the blog - and have decided to produce my very own cooking show: Cooking for Noobs.

We filmed the first episode last Saturday.

Husband thought it was hysterical when I attempted to make a curry paste by mixing milk and kaffir lime leaves in a bowl with crushed nuts. I was, in fact, following the recipe. But it turns out you are supposed to read the entire recipe once over before you actually begin anything. Who woulda thought. And actually, we had a really good time drinking wine and chatting in the kitchen while my chicken caught fire.

Anyway - we have had a slight problem with some of the videos - they are not opening on my computer :( (I have taken it as a sign that the world is trying to save me from myself) Anyway I am determined to get at least one of these "Cooking For Noobs" videos out - so that I can gauge your interest/reaction and see from there. Hopefully we can figure out a way to get the rest of these videos to open - otherwise I may need to ruin something else in the kitchen before I have something to show you.

The aim of this series is to provide fellow kitchen-noobs with some confidence and friendly chef-types with some entertainment. You may even learn the art of a delicious new recipe!

But, probably not.

The Blogcademy: Mind Explosion.

 photo blogcad13_zps0dae12fb.jpg
Just under two weeks ago, I attended The Blogcademy workshop at Curtain Road Studios in London. After two jam-packed days, I left with a head exploding with knowledge, inspiration and turquoise rainbow sparkles.

 photo blogcad17_zps907cf963.jpg photo blogcad11_zpsb15187fa.jpg

As if the promise of exploding-brains isn't enough to get you to The Blogcademy - the awesome goodie bags - filled with headbands, cutesy-kitsch hairclips, solid reading material, sparkly ears, yummy treats, gorgeous bracelets, glittery star necklaces and ceramic tweet badges will make you feel like you've gotten your money's worth before the class has even started. The studio decor and flowers alone are enough to bring any blogger into a frothing instragramming frenzy.

 photo blogcad16_zps3f4993be.jpg

I actually won "best overall instagram" for the video I made below -

I won a "Blogcademy- I have to instagram this" phone cover -

 photo blogcad10_zpsbe22a221.jpg
it's pretty epic.

and Just LOOK! at my phone sitting right there next to Kat and Gala's -
am TOTES in the gang.

 photo blogcad15_zps3fba9a7e.jpg

Over the two days there is so much information and knowledge that is poured onto you - it's like a rain-shower of glittery wisdom. At the end of the first day, it's quite hard to tell whether you are learning anything at all because you barely have a second to actually take it all in. I found that it's only once I have had time to sit alone at home, with my scrawled notes, my own ideas and the application of that knowledge to my own blog that I've realised how much I have learnt.

 photo blogcademy2_zpsbc921560.jpg
There are a few mantras, ideas and bits of information that have really stuck out for me in The Blogcademy teachings. In order to keep myself inspired (in the days, weeks and months away from The Blogcademy) I have made myself some little "reminder mantras", printed them out and stuck them on the wall next to my computer:

If you attended The Blogcademy and would like a little reminder of these mantras, (or if you didn't attend The Blogcademy {you should} and would like a little tease of "the goodness") I have made these into some printable downloads that you can stick up next to your computer. Because I'm nice like that.

Apart from the good tips and sound blogging advice, The Blogcademy is the perfect platform for meeting and networking with other bloggers, creatives and freelancers who are inspiring in their goals of making it for themselves. I am so excited to watch their blogging journey's.

What is the main thing that I learnt from The Blogcademy?

Surprisingly, the main thing that I got out of The Blogcademy wasn't good SEO practise, or how to write killer content, or tips for social media usage or even good advice for blog monetisation -although these topics were covered and I have 34 pages of scribbled notes to show for it. At the end of the day, it wasn't the blogging tips that have made this course so invaluable to me - the main thing I have taken from The Blogcademy is a sense of renewed self confidence. The belief that if these three mega babes are doing it - their way, their rules, their own career paths that they are carving out for themselves - then I can do it too. It is possible, it can be done - and there I am, mingling with the proof.

Over the next few weeks and months, there are going to be some changes that I'm testing out on little indieBerries - My new website design is in the process of being coded and you can look forward to some new regular features and social media changes - which I will be telling you about this coming week!

To Shauna, Gala and Kat

Thank you so much for the most inspiring and incredible two days. Thank you for picking me as one of your scholarship winners - to let me bask in the awesomeness that you all exude. I feel inspired, motivated and driven to succeed in blogging, in goal setting, in creating and in life in general. Thank you for being brave enough to 'just do it'  - because you've inspired us all to do it, too.

Eternally grateful

Ché
