Snaps from Cambodia - Phnom Penh.


Above: The Killing Fields - where many Camodians were killed and buried by the Khmer Rouge Regime. This site includes mass graves and the excavated bones and skulls of many of those who were killed. At this site, during it's operation, there were generators blaring out propaganda chanting music - used to drown out the screaming of those being executed. There is also a tree - Chankiri Tree, marked as "the killing tree" which Khmer Rouge officials used to smash babies skulls into, so that they would not grow up and take revenge for their parents' death.


Above: Two little kids on the other side of the Killing Fields. Quite eerie being in the Killing Fields and learning about the horrific things that were done to children and infants during the Khmer Rouge Rule (1975- 1979) and then seeing two little children playing in the field next door.

Above: Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. This site is a former High School and was converted to a security prison (S-21) during the Khmer Rouge Rule. This site housed various torture chambers and holding cells  for prisoners before they were taken to the mass graves and burial sites of the Killing Fields.

Sorry for the morbid depressing post, it really was a very brutal and harrowing experience - I'm not sure why I decided to share it...

DIY heart style

My favourite old pair of jeans became my un-favourite pair of jeans after I climbed over a fence and ripped a ginormous hole in the knee. (long [alcoholic] story.) I could have handled a "fashionable rip", but this was more of a left-leg-ventilation system and created a gigantic denim flap. not cute.) Anyway I decided to repair my old treasures.

What you need for jeans-CPR:

• old jeans, with enormous un-trendy rip
• felt in two different colours, I used red and grey.
• scissors
• cotton
• needle

this is a genuine rip people.

Step one: stitch up the rip using your cotton and needle. Don't worry about getting it perfect.


Step two: measure the area that the rip covers and mark it off with a pen. Cut a piece of felt to match the size of the pen markings. I chose the grey to be my backing colour and red to be my accent colour.


Step Three: cut out a heart shape in your accent colour.


Step Four: Once you have your accent-colour heart, stitch it using cross stitches onto the square colour- I chose grey. Try to keep your spacing between stitches even but it's not a train-smash if it's a little wonky. It all adds character.


Step Five: Once you have stitched the heart onto your square you can start stitching your square onto your jeans where to cover the pen marks.

Step Six: Keep going until the whole thing is stitched and make sure you do a double stitch at the end.

I got my very lovely-wonderful-helpful and fabulous brother to take some pictures for me.

Brother: Hey, why don't you get in the tree?
Me: No. i can't. it's too high, i'm scared of heights, my shoes aren't really cut out for tree climbing, I can't get up there, what if i fall, how will i get down, i'm too lazy.
Brother: Just do it, it'll be cool.
Me: ok. (succumbs easily to peer pressure. yes.)

"ok, i've had enough of the tree, i'm coming down."

um....

yeah. it was high.

1. If you hold down the apple button and the off button together, it will take a screen shot
2. If you want to stop your phone from switching from portrait to landscape (ie when you are lying on your bed and trying to type), you can double click the apple button then slide the bottom bar to the left until you find the lock-screen icon. click it.
3. "Draw Something" is a great app. FIND ME! Username: indieBerries. Emoji is also a fun.
4. If you want to create shortcuts for when you are typing, go to settings > general >keyboard > shortcuts > create new shortcut. My phone now autocorrects "ctk" to "Che is the King".
5. If you are browsing in Safari and want to save a picture, just hold it for a couple of seconds.
6. If you slide down the top of your homescreen, it will bring up all your recent notifications.
7. Double tapping the space bar will give you a "."

i wantist.

i love gift-giving when you already have a good idea of what to get for the giftee (yeah, i made that word up) but it can be really tough when you are trying to buy a gift with absolutely no idea what to get. happy wedding day

A few snaps of a wedding card/mini guest-scrapbook I made for Clare and Bokkie's wedding. i included a whole bunch of different textured pages, photographs, tape, fabrics and quotes. The booklet had plenty of empty lined spaces for guests to write messages to the newlyweds and I made sure it also had a few pockets in the booklet so that they could slip in some photographs from their big day.
