The ONE THING

I'm really into this "self-help/motivational" book that Lulu gave me to read. I am so into it that I have been quoting phrases to The Warr on an almost hourly basis. The whole book is about directed focus and how to effectively channel your energy to hone in on the ONE thing that will make you successful and asks so many awesome questions that help you determine exactly what that ONE thing is. (I will share more of my experience with this book soon!) Anyway - The following is an actual conversation that took place on Sunday morning - during our coffee-and-reading-session in bed:

Bad Day, good wife.

 photo lovebite_zpsd0ce94ec.jpg

The husband had a horrible day at work the other day. Like. A really really horrible one. I could tell from his messages that he was feeling super low. And, I don't know about you - but when husband is feeling low - it breaks my heart. Ain't no amount of broken-heart-streaming-tear-emoticons can explain how it makes my heart ache. So - as my wifely duty, I decided to devise a little paper adventure to cheer him up when he got home.

 photo goodwife5_zps6ae45bb8.jpg
The very first note, I stuck outside our apartment building - so that he would see it as soon as he got home to our block of flats. I didn't want to scare the neighbours off with soppy notes of love - so I put the first note into an envelope with just his name - (above) and stuck it outside:

The note inside the envelope (above).

The other side of the note in the envelope -
led him to the fruit bowl in the apartment building entrance hall.

I had to be sneaky and hide it under the bowl - because I didn't want any ol' creep seeing it and thinking it was for them. No. You don't want that.

(above) the envelope under the fruit bowl.

Inside the fruit bowl envelope: A flaming bomb.
Because you can't buy flowers for boys with beards.

 photo goodwife10_zps79d08349.jpg

If you give someone a bomb, you must certainly direct them to the fire-extinguisher. Which I most certainly did - located on the second floor - right outside our front door.

 photo goodwife14_zpse912d5f8.jpg

(I did not get a very good snap of this because I could hear someone coming up the stairs and it is very tricky to explain why you are taking pictures of the fire extinguisher without anyone suspecting you of an impending pyromaniac attack)

 photo goodwife11_zps41d8c786.jpg

In the envelope behind the fire extinguisher -

 photo goodwife12_zpse7a43e38.jpg photo goodwife13_zps15c0f6a8.jpg

And finally - on our front door -

 photo goodfwifepic1_zps65d17d84.jpg
 photo goodwife16_zps94db2ae3.jpg photo goodwife18_zpsa0c0ca73.jpg

Except - there was one problem when husband with his down-trodden-head arrived home -

 photo goodwife2_zps3d5c5892.jpg

 photo goodwifecartoon1_zps0d76c8ce.jpg photo goodwifecartoon2_zps4f258ef4.jpg

And then?

What did I do - to my husband who has had the worst day in the world?

I shouted at him.

 photo goodwifecartoon4_zps90fd4d6d.jpg photo goodwifecartoon5_zps894948d6.jpg
Which was fine...

because by the time he had gone back outside into the cold and collected
every. single. message I had left for him,
he arrived back at our front door laughing.

Job. Done.

And just so you know....

 photo goodwife19_zps9ddaaaf3.jpg

I'm true to my word.

 photo goodwife20_zps1109004e.jpg

And even something extra because nothing says "boo hoo"
like eating ice cream out the tub.

Yogi-Bear

So,

I have begun my "yoga journey".
Now bearing in mind, I am at the total beginner stages of this whole "practice-thing" but I have been really inspired lately (mainly by Lulu who recently became a yoga teacher). The husband surprised me last weekend with a 6 month subscription to the Bikram Yoga Centre in Wimbledon. I was so excited that on Monday morning, I rushed out of bed - MANY hours before the sun, got dressed, kitted and was rip-roaring-ready-to-go - only to realise that there is no Monday morning yoga class. Bearing in mind, that I am NOT a morning person. But don't worry, I curled back into bed (in my yoga kit) and bonded with my book, it's all cool.

Anyway.

I have been trying out some different yoga poses at home - and have been reading up about different armstands. So last night, I was home alone waiting for the man to get back from work and decided to attempt some armstands of my own:

I attempted the crow/crane/bakasana. After a few many attempts.... FINALLY -

 photo namaste1_zps4f2be89b.jpg photo namaste3_zps7855c6f8.jpg
(probably closer to 30 seconds in reality. Whatevs.)
 photo namaste2_zps4fb05633.jpg photo namaste4_zps91e006e8.jpg photo namaste5_zpsfe5e8a11.jpg photo namaste6_zps31fbf5aa.jpg photo namaste7_zps1e06f538.jpg photo namaste9_zps4382f4b8.jpg photo namaste11_zps726acd0e.jpg

I didn't even fall at all.
Not even a tiny little bit, at all.

And, Obviously, I got the whole thing on film.

THIS IS ME:

It may appear that my body is very different - but you know what they say -
when you PRACTICE YOGA - your WHOLE BODY CHANGES -

EVEN YOUR FACE.

Also - I was on beach.

And there you have it.

NAMASTE.

Crushin' It.

My brother visited us recently in London and introduced me to this "little game" called Candy Crush. Now, I'm not much of a "gamer" so I was iffy about downloading it, until he was all like, "You know - that even DAD plays Candy Crush..." And then I was all like, "WHERE DO I DOWNLOAD THIS SHIZZ??? NOW!!!".

Entering the world of "Candy Crush" has changed my life. ie: I now no longer have deep and meaningful conversations with my husband, but at least my life finally has a purpose. (Filling up the Lake of Lemonade). It's bittersweet. Or sweetsweet, depending on how you look at it. Either way, SUGAR.

Today I wanted to share with you some of the LIFE LESSONS that I have learnt from CANDY CRUSHIN'.
photo crushlesson1_zps0e64e1ea.jpg1. If at first you don't succeed...
If there is one thing that candy Crush has taught me - PERSEVERANCE is KEY.

 photo crushlesson8_zps5f20d54f.jpg photo crushlesson6_zps0f7cddb1.jpg photo crushlesson6_zps0f7cddb1.jpg photo crushlesson6_zps0f7cddb1.jpg photo crushlesson6_zps0f7cddb1.jpg
 photo crushlesson6_zps0f7cddb1.jpg photo crushlesson6_zps0f7cddb1.jpg
You must, and WILL keep playing until you SUCCEED. This is a life lesson which we can all benefit from. Life is NOT FOR LOSERS. LIFE IS FOR WINNERS. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the candy-algorithms automatically "let" you win after the hundred-and-fiftieth attempt. Speaking from experience.

2. Maintain a healthy and well-balanced diet

 photo crushlesson4_zps76da2e9d.jpg photo crushlesson5_zpscbf58f9f.jpg
sometimes you may also get a chestnut or two. Hashtag PROTEIN.

3. BE SUPER ENTHUSIASTIC ALL THE TIME!!!
My theory as to why Candy Crush is so wildly popular is due to the fact that it literally SINGS your praises. I mean, when you complete a level, it ain't just "level completed" or "well done" it is
photo crushlesson2_zps29587414.jpgWhich makes you feel like you have most definitely ACHIEVED GREATNESS. Go ahead and pencil me in next to Einstein.

When you make a SMASHING CRUSH, it isn't simply "Good Job" it is absolutely photo crushlesson3_zps0422c1ac.jpg

Which  -
by VERY NATURE of the word,
indicates that you are actually
 photo god2_zps69a13fde.jpg photo god_zps347582ad.jpg
To take away: playing Candy Crush actually makes you A GOD. Which means you are more intelligent, more beautiful and more WONDERFUL than any of your peers. It tells you so.

4. In LIFE, sacrifice is INEVITABLE.
In order to WIN at Candy Crush - you will need to sacrifice many things. Starting, but not limited to - personal relationships, daily exercise, sleep, eating and normal hygienic routines. In this modern age, "us youth" have so blatantly FORGOTTEN the incredible sacrifices of our forefathers - oh shame on us! Candy Crush teaches us to sacrifice, just as those who have gone before us.

 photo candycrush_zps698651bd.jpg
You should at whatever cost - sacrifice whatever is necessary in order to complete the task at hand. You may need to go days without nutrition, water or toilet breaks - it is survival of the fittest and you must do whatever it takes to complete your quest. Bear Grylls would be proud.

5. When life gets too stressful - give yourself a TIME OUT

 photo timeout_zps768cc0b6.jpg
15 minutes of "quiet time" should do the trick. If you are feeling particularly like a failure - you may need as much as 24 hours to give yourself a pepping up. It's good to step back once and a while from this crazy busy life. So force yourself to go into the nature. Smell the trees. Splash in the tributaries. Sing with birds. Meditation etc. You will feel rejuvenated and ready for ROUND TWO.

And Finally

6. When something pisses you off

Do whatever it takes to
 photo bomb_zps86531459.jpg

NOTHING stands in the way of a true Candy Crusher.

* the end*

In honour of this GREAT GAME and all the LIFE LESSONS that we can learn from it - I have created a "You're my Candy Crush" Valentine's day card - available in my Etsy Shop here.

 photo candycrush2_zps485e22ae.jpg
...because nothing says "I love you" like blowing a box of candies.
aaah, love is sweet.
