Upon my internet travels, actually in the search for an origami pattern (i-cant-tell-you/its-a-secret/I'll-have-to-kill-you) I came across this beautiful site that curates all things artistically paper - Upon a Fold. Art + paper  = what's not to love?

{Early works: Picasso}

A few weeks ago I was at the Natural History Museum in London and came across the early works of Pablo Picasso. They are very cartoon-esque and at first it was quite hard to believe that these were actually the works of Picasso. Most of the pencil drawings and cartoons had a very Quentin Blake style. Here are a few snaps:


Another awesome thing which lets you create collages using artworks and clothing is Polyvore. Here are a few of the collages which have been created using the later works of Picasso.

What's not to love?

Mr Brainwash

One of my friends sent me on an art exhibit mission the other day to one of the most incredible exhibitions I have ever been to. Mr Brainwash - the LA based artist Thierry Guetta made his UK Debut show in London a few weeks ago. "Mr Brainwash" was first made famous by Banksy - (click on that link and you will be on that site for at least a few hours) - the famous street artist prankster and his documentary Exit through the gift shop. There are a few critics who believe things to be a little too suspicious -

But for many sceptics, that's the problem. His sudden rise to success was a little too perfect, leading to suggestions that Mr Brainwash doesn't really exist, that Guetta is nothing more than a charismatic frontman for a particularly complex gag being played on the art fraternity by notorious joker Banksy. - BBC News

Throughout the exhibition there are also some of Banksy's more "iconic" images - rats, monkeys and stencil-styled people. If you browse through the Banksy Website - you will see lots of these images which also pop up in this exhibition. Either way, Banksy or Mr Brainwash - the exhibition was awesome - fun, grungy, quirky. The exhibition is running at The Old Sorting Office in London.

Loads of iconic images and iconic people and the spoofs on the Pop Art Campbells Tomato Soup vibe.

I really loved how so many of the artworks so were amazing to look at from a distance - taking it all in at once. And then if you move up close, you can see just how awesome each little centimetre is, with so many different layers and textures.

    

The set up of the exhibit was also incredible - and many of the individual pieces interacted so well with each other.
