What if Wednesday

What if Facebook and Twitter combined...

Go ahead and share this on Facebook AND Twitter, twitface.

Happy hoarder

I have this friend. This friend has recently been watching a series called "hoarders"
here is a sneak peak:

basically it is a show about a whole bunch of people with a WHOLE bunch of crap.
more crap than they can handle. way way more crap than they can handle.
it is a problem.

Since watching this series dear friend of mine has been inspired to purge her apartment of all things 'extra'. This friend (from now referred to as 'Pretty-Purger') has been mentioning to me that i HAVE to see it. I HAVE to watch it! I will be so inspired to get rid of stuff! you'll feel SO good about getting rid of stuff! (what exactly is Pretty-Purger trying to tell me?)

Anyway... we'll deal with that later... having been inspired to attempt to slim-line my "extra-treasures" I decided to tackle one of my junk-drawers. (You don't have a junk-drawer? Don't lie. Everybody has a junk drawer. some people its a junk cupboard).

Me opening junk drawer:
OOOHH!!! WOW!!! Fairy lights! Fantastic!! I wonder if these work!? I can totally use these!! (i'm all about the mood lighting. sexy, i know.) Let me plug these in and see if they work!! (plugs lights in - sees lights shine and then unplugs them in same millisecond) WOW!! they work! QUiCK! let me hang them up before Pretty-Purger finds out i'm just stringing more crap around my apartment!

The hanging of the lights:
This process took approximately 43 minutes. I will condense it for you.

  1. unravels lights and gets lights tangled in own fingers.
  2. unravels fingers from lights and in process re-entangles lights in a ball
  3. thinks about giving up
  4. thinks that reward of extra "mood-lighting" is worth it.
  5. lights finally unravelled
  6. finds good starting place for lights (with other fairy lights which are currently in room)
  7. tries to wind lights up bookcase
  8. accidentally pulls several hardcover books onto head
  9. &%£$@!!
  10. wants to give up
  11. perseveres
  12. tries to hook lights on existing wall hook, cannot reach.
  13. spends 10 minutes trying to throw lights onto hook. (very difficult - even if you are Michael Jordan)
  14. gives up on that idea and climbs on couch. still too short.
  15. finds higher shoes, flattens self against wall and uses longest finger to inch fairy lights onto hook. painstaking process.
  16. takes a breather.
  17. pulls lights across to lower hook
  18. strings lights across to kitchen section and attempts to keep them on the top of kitchen cabinet without falling down.
  19. needs something heavy to keep lights in place
  20. finds heavy bag of washing powder to put on top of lights
  21. accidentally touches something gross and grimy on top of kitchen cupboard where no-one sees or ever goes.
  22. makes mental note to clean that grimy thing (no, not really).
  23. winds lights down important gas pipe and...
  24. OLLEH!!! FINISHED!
  25. plugs lights in and tries to find 'steady-on' setting
  26. no, not that flashing one... not blinking.... the 'steady-on' setting...

realises that lights have only two settings:
    SEIZURE and EPILEPTIC FIT.
  27. RIPS down lights and..... THROWS. LIGHTS. AWAY.
You were right Pretty-Purger... it DOES feel good to get rid of stuff.

Go through your junk drawer. I know you have one.

Puppy Party... (a sad story)

So last night i was at Lovely Lolo's house - (lured in by the promise of a delicious taco...and yes it was deeelicious). Lovely Lolo was actually in the process of baking some delicious brownies and cupcake treats for her little Puppy Porter's Birthday Party which was today.

All the dog owners would be gathering for a little puppy-get-together for an hour... Laura suggested i stay and help with the baking. (haha. don't worry, I just read the recipe out loud... {and obviously added a few extra cups of chocolate chips and cocoa powder here and there - [no wonder my cooking never works out...] } )

By the end of our mixing, the batter smelt like this:
now, after being introduced to this delicious-ness, there is absolutely no way I was missing out on that puppy-parade. So whilst The brownies and cupcakes were getting even-more-amazing in the oven, Che devised a plan:
That's right. MAKE. YOUR. OWN. PUPPY.
Step One: you will need plastic bags, brown bags, heavy-duty-extra-sticky-tape and some imagination.
Step Two: tape the bags up with the tape. make it like a puppy shape... you know.
Step Three: Get some more plastic bags and twist them into puppy leg shapes. You will need four of these. Since puppies generally have four legs. generally.
make sure the legs are about the same size. (obviously)
Step Four: Give your puppy a collar and name. You would hate for your puppy to run off and get lost.
Step Five: Give your puppy ears, so that if it does get lost you can just call for it and it will hear you and come back.
Step Six: Puppy face and... VOILA!

(also - my mom and dad phoned mid-way through this process.

mom: what are you doing?
me: oh... um.... nothing.
dad: but what are you doing.. it sounds like you are ripping up stuff?
me: well...um.. i'm making a puppy.
mom: what?
me: i'm making a puppy.
*silence*
dad-to-mom: wow. where did we get this one?)

Now, I planned my entire day to fit in the puppy party from 1 - 2pm. First photographing stuff for my Etsy calendar, then mini-room tidy, then nice run to the gym to send a little good-luck-to-the-brother-for-exams-card and then took a shower after my run 12:40pm - plenty of time to spare!

Bink-bink! skype goes crazy -
Skype: "Che! where are you?!"
me: "i'm coming to the puppy party! with MY PUPPY!"
Skype: "the puppy party is finished. it started at 12"
me: WHAT?! I MADE A PUPPY AND EVERYTHING!
Skype: "well come over, there are still three dogs here.... and some brownies and cupcakes!"
me very sad... but at least I have a new best friend to help with the pain.

This was the left-overs of the puppy party - and the real reason me and pupps gate-crashed:
(no, not the dog-food, the sneaky blue cupcakes and brownies in the background...)
They were delicious.
and... some of the (lucky) puppies got to make a new friend!
well.. maybe not everyone made friends...

Make THESE delicious brownies. or a puppy.
whichever you feel more comfortable with.

New Etsy Listing!

"it's very funny!"

yes. time to get back to my fairy princess house, where there are magic fairies who do all the cleaning and the pixies take care of the garden roses and there are iced cupcakes to eat everyday with peppermint chocolate tea.

Today I'm going to a puppy party. But I don't own a puppy. It's a funny story. More to come later... Happy Monday
