Looking for something to do this weekend?

You guys, Pop Up Restaurants.

There is something so awesome and trendy about them - kind of makes you feel like you are dining in a super secret hot-spot that is so elite, it only lasts for 48 hours. Then all of a sudden, the whole thing is dismantled and it's like it. NEVER. EVEN. HAPPENED.

SO - I wanted to let you know about an awesome little Pop Up that is coming to London this weekend - so that you can snap up your ticket - before the whole thing is over in the BLINK of an eye!

What makes this Pop Up so awesome (apart from it being a pop-up, the coolness of which, we've already established) is that this one in particular is being "cheffed" by my friend, Ashleigh and the rest of the Belazu Team. Now, given my "cooking record" I know I am no "authority" on this matter... but you guys...  - I've tasted her food - it's legit.

The tickets are £35 each for a yummmmy three course meal and a welcome cocktail. The food is all Moroccan inspired: think delicious mezze platters, lamb shanks, aubergine, chickpeas, hummous, spiced yogurt, olives, pomegranate and epic dishes cooked in those Tagine things.

I have actually NO idea how those things work - but I know that what comes out of them is GOOOOD. Take a look at the menu here!

What makes this Pop UP even more awesome than it already is, is that over £20 from each ticket is going towards The Belazu Foundation - which supports the educational needs of children in England and the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. The Belazu Foundation will also match all the funds raised from ticket sales - which makes ONE ticket sale enough to educate a child in Morocco for an entire year. So it's a win-win-win-win situation. DO IT.

It's taking place on Friday (14th March) and Saturday (15th March) at The Dolls House in Hoxton Square - how awesome is that venue!? You better be there!

The Colour Run - July 14, Wembley

A bunch of us have entered the London Colour Run - happening on the 14th July in Wembley. It's been dubbed "the happiest 5km on the planet". Running, festival of colours and (hopefully) some sunshine - can't hardly wait!

If anyone in London is keen to enter - you can visit their Facebook Page here
There is also the London Holi Festival of Colours on the 10th August.
(similar to the festivals which have already happened in Cape Town and Jhb)

{weekend} get your wedding on.

Photobucket
Here's a little something else for the UK folk about an event that's happening this weekend in Kent:Photobucket
Now, right after the proposal, and the immediate wedding fiasco that ensues - you will have no doubt got yourself a fancy wedding planner file, created a million moodboards and maxed out your Pinterest account.

You will also have checked out every single wedding blog in the blogosphere - Southbound Bride, Rock n Roll Bride, Offbeat Bride , The Crafty DIY Bride, Style me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes,  The Pretty Blog, Oh Darling Days , Wedding Gawker, Once Wed, b.loved, Ruffled, Grey likes Weddings, 100 Layer Cake. Yes, I have read all of these. And this is the tip of the ice-berg. If this list scares you, trust me - put your dancing shoes away - you are not ready to get married.

But there is one more thing that you simply MUST do (if you haven't been scared off by aforementioned blog list) and are still intending on getting married - Photobucket
In all honesty I have already attended several wedding shows with my mother (and father and brother - who gives unnecessary "great" running commentary.) But this weekend I intend on dragging THE MAN to a Wedding Fair happening up in Kent -

We have booked some tickets for Saturday - but The Wedding Fair runs from Friday all through to Sunday and takes place at Glow Bluewater. There are loads of different exhibitors, workshops, tasting sessions, style showcases and wedding fashion shows. It's going to be all flowers, dresses, fabrics, accessories and shiny rings.

Poor Warren has no idea what he has gotten himself into -

But don't worry - I have checked out the vendors and there is a Champagne Bar which will be just fine for The Warr and there are some great restaurant deals of places nearby including Krispy Kreme - so if he starts acting up, I will just shove him with a DONUT.Photobucket

The Wedding Fair at Bluewater this weekend - 21, 22, 23 September - you can book tickets here.

See you there!

My First Time

I posted yesterday about visiting the Renegade Craft Fair in London. I know lots of you loved reading about it - But I guess it doesn't really help you out if I post about it after it's already happened. So I thought I would line up two different posts for today - with a few things that are going on this weekend.

In Cape Town this Saturday is the launch of the My First Time Book - A collaborative writing project managed and edited by Jen Thorpe. Over two years she has sourced and collected women's stories through the My First Time blog. The real-life stories range from abortion, rape and abuse to crushes, real love, motherhood, friendship and forgiveness. The stories serve as a platform for opening discussion and communication between the women of South Africa. You can see a full list of stories here and submit your own story here.Photobucket
Following from the blog - the next exciting development in this epic project has been the formulation of the My First Time book which launches this Saturday at 12:00 at the Fugard Studio. There will be stories read by Jen and various authors and you can book tickets for R30 here.
