In honour of International Glass Week this week - Consol have given me a R500 gift voucher to give away which can be spent on lovely glass things like glass jars, candle holders, decor and other glass goodies (in the Stellenbosch and Woodmead stores).
If anyone follows my pinterest boards - (just fight your way through all the wedding stuff - yeah, i don't know how that got in there) and you will see a whole bunch of cool glass inspired DIYs and tutorials for making your life more beautiful :) like this gorgeous party decor from Sweet Designs Blog:
And some of my other favourite tutorials include a really cool DIY for putting old photographs inside different glass jars to make an interesting-vintage/apothecary-type shelf display (as found on Yankee Magazine.)
so pretty.
If you'd like to win a R500 Consol voucher (to be couriered to you - CT or JHB) then leave a comment below telling me your favourite thing to put in glass. (yes, you can use the cartoon above for inspiration.)
You can check out the Consol site here or their facebook page.

It's a toss up between beautiful handpicked flowers... and wine. I think it might be wine. PICK ME! :)
How about jelly beans & smarties? mmmm not only colourful but delicious too :) also you can put strings around the neck of the jars and make beautiful hanging lanterns & hanging flower pots from them :)
I <3 glass
wine is definitely my favourite thing to put in a glass.
i grew up in the free state, totally landlocked with no beach in sight. but my grandmother had like 3 or 4 large glass bottles filled with shells around the house, and whenever i was feeling down, i'd put them up to my ear and listen to the ocean...super soothing...lol.
i use my consol jars to make big summer cocktails...pretty to drink in the sun around the pool, or stick the lid on and take them to the beach/forest for a picnic.
my favorite jar cocktail is: generous amount of vodka, raspberry puree, mint leaves, gingerbeer and loads of ice :)
aaaah pretty! I would stick oranges, lemons and limes in glass vases to put in what is about to be my first house - pretty colours! :)
My favourite thing to put in glass is a beautiful bunch of flowers. They cheer me up, they make my office smell good and give some gorgeous colour to my very gray office.
I have hanging glass jars in my back yard that I've put different candles and fairy lights in for beautiful lighting. Inside I have made an indoor herb garden by mounting glass jars to a piece of wood. My favorite is floating tea lights in a big blue glass bowl... so pretty and relaxing!
Ok this is a tricky one - but my best would have to be a glass filled with pink bubbles (The champagne variety) but a close second would have to be vase filled with pretty pink antique roses - makes for a very happy space! :)
Imma go with green juice. That squeezy stain-your-teeth creme soda flavoured stuff!
Hot summer day + bottle of ice cold Lemonade = Life is good :)
hahahaha!! :) I think I like the blue juice ;) and I like things green in glasses too! ^_^ i think those might be my favourite!
shells and other holiday paraphernalia
My favourite glass container of all times was a 1.5 litre Tassenberg bottle (yes, it was a good party)that we used as a doorstop/saving bin in varsity. We (my flatmate and myself) would put all our coins in it and at the end of the month we would walk with the coin filled bottle and empty it out on our local Seven Eleven counter and count out the exact amount of coins to buy...cigarettes. Glass, good for a lot of things other than wine. But wine is the best.
It's a pity that at most of the clubs I frequent, the tequila comes in plastic shot glasses. I like it in the tall glass ones so much better. That and Grapetizer. Mmm Red.
I love Consol; Ive got about 11 jars so far filled with rice, mielies kernels, pasta, lentils, flour, barley etc! Ive also taken to filling glass jars (all recylws of course) with cottonwool, nail files, earbuds and of course flowers or orange blossom sprigs from the garden. Perfect!
Different colours of sand! Looks so awesome.
I have jars filled with paper cranes; nothing like a cocktail-filled-jar for summer days and fairy lights for summer nights
GREEN JUICE!!!!!!! Oh how I miss the likol days.
Awesomest thing to put in glass at night is water with the contents of a uv light stick. Shake things up & you have a glowing jar. Love it!
