Feel Good Friday

My blog posts are getting progessively longer and longer on indieBerries - which kind of makes it difficult to keep up with myself. So, to change it up a little here's a short one:

 photo one_zps9101ed76.jpg

Sometimes I actually crack myself up to the point of no return.

And here is a list of epic links to make your Friday Feelgood -

Fun Facts for your Friday...

 photo funfacts_zps6989df08.jpg
I thought I would mix it up a little today - with 4 fun facts about me mixed up with some fun facts about STUFF!
1. PUBLIC TRANSPORT
I LOVE public transport. Sometimes when I have a journey to make on a train I get so excited that I pack EVERYTHING I possibly can into my bag. Last night, I met up for a drink with Tom and Lulu - I was so excited about "the train trip to London" that I packed my Headspace Transport podcast (9 minutes long), the last Hunger Games book that I'm currently reading, a notebook with plans to create a scheduling system for the Wedding Guestbooks I'm working on and a separate notebook to plan some blog posts for next week. The train trip lasted approximately 17 minutes. But I just got SO. DAMN. EXCITED.

FUN FACT: London Waterloo is the busiest station in Great Britain, with over 100 million people arriving and departing each year.

 photo kellytravel4_zps23ba2877.jpg

2. STATS AND
SUCH

Lately for some reason, I haven't been checking my blog stats all that much. It's rather refreshing if I do say so myself. And ironically, I've seen the most growth in my readership over this period. Anyway, I am more interested to see what people are reading and enjoying rather than how many are reading. This week - these posts have been the most read this week - the first one with over 4700 pageviews. (Conclusion: People HATE technology)
CARTOON: The Stages of technology Turmoil.
Crafted: A Travel Journal (pic above)
What If Wednesday - British Guards.
Conversations with husband - a golden oldie.
The Land of Thai

FUN FACT: Speaking of technology, I have sworn at Photoshop twice this morning. (The F word).
 photo kidsparty_zps9f391521.jpg

3. KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Look, I'm going to be completely honest with you - I have been planning and preparing our future children's birthday parties since before I was even engaged. I have pinboards for it and everything. Like, I'm going to be the mother that all the other mother's HATE. I'm okay with it.

FUN FACT BIRTHDAYS: The most popular birthdate in the world is October 5. Which is exactly 9 months after New Years Eve. LOL.
 photo poppop_zpsf982401e.jpg
4. MOVIES
I am a sucker for couch time and a movie, but I will openly admit that a) I almost ALWAYS fall asleep before the end and b) I customarily forget every single movie I've ever seen about half a minute after I've seen it. In fact, it is a very common occurrence for us to get to the end of a very long movie and only in the very last minute for me to proclaim, "Oh hey! I think I've actually seen this!" (provided I'm still awake)

POPCORN FUN FACT: Most popcorn comes in two basic shapes when it's popped: Snowflake and Mushroom, "Snowflake Popcorn" is used in Movie theatres because it looks and pops bigger. Also, a popcorn kernel can pop up to 3 feet in the air.

And, NOW I feel like a Friday night Movie and Popcorn.

Husband... Are you reading this?
x

PS - I have been posting these posts into my new website (still behind the scenes) and copying it over to blogger - which is totally screwing up all the HTML formatting - I don't have the patience right now to sort through the code that's making it funky - and let's be honest, it's 11:37am and I've already dropped the F Bomb. Twice. So I'm sorry that this post is so painful on the eyes.

Fun Facts: The food edition

 photo funfacts_zps6989df08.jpg
Today's Fun Fact Friday is the FOOD Edition! Let's begin!

I am sure you've all already been told about how much sugar is in Coca Cola - BUT, to put that in perspective for you - one Coca Cola contains the same amount of sugar as 1.77 shot glasses. Shot Glasses. Filled with sugar.

Holy Moly.

MacDonald's has more than 761 000 employees worldwide.
Which is more than the population of Luxemburg.

Warren was looking over my shoulder as I was drawing this...

Him: Wow! Really?
Me: Yes! Well. That's what it says on this website.
Him: You're a peach!
Me: And YOU'RE an almond. And that's why we're married.

5 fun facts you may not know about me!

 photo me2_zps40c567c8.jpg
I thought I would break a little from the traditional "Fun fact Friday" posts to share 5 fun facts you didn't know about ME!
 photo me_zpsc3905455.jpg
(Above: this is me. and that is my name. yep - that's it. Not short for anything. It has an accent on the é. If I was a boy, my parents were planning on naming me Preston. Turns out, I'm not a boy.)

 photo set2_zpsa66822fc.jpg

1. I have designed stag
e
sets.
At the English Village, where I worked in South Korea for three and a half years, there was a children's theatre where children's actors performed English musicals to entertain/educate Korean kids. They often called on me to help design and create their stage sets. It was actually a lot of fun to see your own art work come to life on such a big scale!

 photo setdesign1_zpsfba00edf.jpg photo set3_zps44b595fc.jpg

2. School Subjects:
In high school, I studied English, Afrikaans, Maths, Science, Biology, Speech and Drama and Advanced Mathematics. I never studied art. Looking back at how my life has panned out - it would have been way more beneficial to me had I taken art and accounting at school. (creative + business). I have NO idea what "tax" actually even is - but I can multiply and compute the crap out of three dimensional matrix mathematics.

 photo funfactmatrix_zps10715c6e.jpg

which is fantastic really - because every night, the dark overlords kidnap me from my bed and take me to their dungeon. They only set me free every morning, because I am successfully able to answer their three-dimensional matrix multiplication problems.

SHEW. Lucky I have that skill.

 photo me3_zps288eea19.jpg
3. Eyeballs.
My eyes are slightly different colours. It was a lot more pronounced when I was younger and my mom even offered me corrective lenses if I wanted. I used to joke that it was "one eye from my mom (brown) and one eye from my dad (green)". Over the years, my eyes have become more of the same colour - although it is sometimes quite noticeable if I am tired or emotional. weird.

4. Birthdays.
I have celebrated my birthday on five of the seven continents. Which means, I am due for a birthday trip to Antarctica. Hashtag Penguins.

5. Tests
I LOVE tests. Especially personality tests or relationship tests or any kind of thing which gives me a slightly better understanding of who I am and how I function. I am an ENFJ, a type 2 personality and my strongest love languages are words of affirmation and quality time. I'm always keen to try more tests like this (send any my way if you have them!) and sometimes I even force husband to do them too. He loves it as much as appeases me.

So those are some things about me - tell me something about you!

Fun Facts

 photo funfacts_zps6989df08.jpg
My little brother has been visiting us in London this festive season - so naturally the husband and I have taken to showing him around the big bad city. One evening we ventured out to a pub along the Thames and (to be honest) I wasn't really paying too much attention until I heard husband mention the phrase "yeah... cars were melting an' everything.." Of course my ears perked up when I heard melting cars because who doesn't want to hear about that shizz?

Me: What? Cars are melting? what??
Husband: yeah. for real.
Me: I don't believe you. What are you even talking about?
Husband: You see that building over there? That curved one?
Me: Yes...
Husband: Well.. they had to put a dark screen over the one side - because basically the entire building is shaped like a gigantic magnifying glass. It was totally melting all the cars parked in the street below. Fryin' people like ants an all!
Me: Wow, that is the most epic knowledge I have ever heard.

So today, I have decided to dedicate this edition of "FUN FACT FRIDAY" to the random knowledge that I have learnt from the husband this week.

  photo funfactscreen_zps30937090.jpg
Above: the building in the aforementioned "car melting" catastrophe. If you look carefully, you can see the dark screen they have put over the windows on the one side.
Below:  My very scientific diagram demonstrating the problem.
 photo funfactscreen2_zpsa3836531.jpg
Another epic fun fact I have learnt from the husband (random fountain of knowledge) this week, is that in the UK -
 photo funfactbobby2_zps382fd6f7.jpg photo funfactbobby_zps7050e30d.jpg
I have NO idea how this conversation came up at all - but The Warr just rattled off this most bizarre fact and finished off with a

"GOOGLE IT! - PUT THAT IN YOUR FUN FACTS!"
So, I did google it.
And here it is, in my latest edition of FUN FACT FRIDAY!

Who woulda thunk?!

Tonight we are planning on having a proper RELAX  - the brother flies back to SA this evening and it has been go go go go go with all the seasonal festivities/tour-guiding/Christmassing/New Year-ring. As such, husband and I are planning on a spectacularly chilled out night tonight - to gear up for a good weekend of productivity and getting all things on track for 2014! I suspect the evening will involve some kind of (indulgent) food which I don't have to prepare, a movie which starts well before 8pm and getting to bed at an hour that would make teenagers turn up their noses in disgust. In other breaking news - today I have done THREE loads of washing - which actually makes me feel like a real DOMESTIC GODDESS. In fact, I should probably fashion myself some sort of cape for these occasions. Perhaps I will add that to the weekend list.

What are you up to?

Fun FACTS!

 photo funfact1_zps447fae6e.jpg
I'm curious. HOW do they know this? Who wears the size 650 shoe for them to compare this to?
{This fun fact was sent in to me by GI Jane - thanks yo!}

* * * * *

 photo funfact2_zpsd083a7a5.jpg
That is one times floating porcupine.
Look at him trapped in that glass.
Lol.
* * * * * *
 photo funfact3_zpse2969901.jpg
But... we already knew that.
* * * * * *
 photo funfact4_zps4951b456.jpg
Or if you are me, it can be used to create "fake blood" and trick innocent people.

 photo funfact5_zps27ed537d.jpg
You can tell from the statue of a mounted horseman how the rider died. If all four of the horse's feet are on the ground, he died of natural causes. One foot raised means he died from wounds suffered in battle. Two legs raised means he died in action.

EDIT: Have just had a reader comment below that the fact above is not entirely correct - whilst a lot of equestrian statues do fall into this basic convention - it is not hard and fast. This is a really interesting read at Snopes.com - which shows a whole lot of statues which fall outside this rule. The article also mentions some of the "coincidences" between the Lincoln and Kennedy assassinations. Very interesting - take a read!

That was pretty graphic.
Sorry.

Happy Friday everyone! Husband has taken a whole bunch of days off lately and the brother is here - so basically this whole week has felt like Friday! Second to last one of 2013. Madness I tell you, MADNESS.

I can't wait to show you our Christmas Tree!
It. IS. AWESOME.

I'd totally do that.

Ps: As you may notice - I have drawn this prisoner with a moustache -
because, in my opinion - anyone with a moustache is a potential criminal.

AHEM, HUSBAND.

 photo photo_zpse84e5dab.jpg

And that concludes the FUN FACTS for TODAY!

* * * * * * *
I know - it's an abridged version for today because I'm taking the day "away from the computer" to prepare some goodies for my first market! (23 Nov, Wimbledon - come buy my shit).
I can't wait to share more with you about that soon! YAY!

Answer: The round cover rests on a lip that is smaller than the cover so it can’t drop through the opening. A square or rectangular cover, no matter how it was made, could fall through.
Fancy.

NO WONDER I LOVE PENCILS SO MUCH!!

[Very DOUBLE NB side note to men: If your lady says she "wants a diamond for Christmas" do NOT get her a pencil. That will not be very funny. And you will be on the couch. Trust me.]
