Falling: Photos and Photoshopping.

  photo autumn2_zps741af84f.jpg
(i have actually decided I don't like this font very much. oh well).

It seems a little strange to be posting this now - since I'm currently back in South Africa and it's very much not Autumn - but I figured that by the time I get back to the UK it will be winter (kill me) and then it will be way too late to post this.

The husband and I went for a walk the other night - just around the block and I ended up snapping a whole bunch of pretty autumn leaves. I have spent a bit of time playing around with them in photoshop. When I first got my SLR (years ago) I used to spend SO much time messing around with photos and photo manipulation in photoshop and this little session made me remember how much I love it.

I love this font - (ck carolyn) but I've noticed that at slightly bigger font sizes and between certain letter combinations - it starts to disappear. SOB. Why would you do that font-makers. WHY?

I have been playing around with the idea of creating a "double exposure" film type of look -

hey! hey!?

I mixed these two pics above to produce the pic below as a kind of "double exposure". I really like the leaf patterning in the top right corner.

Also goes to show how much you can change a picture in photoshop (above, below).

These are another two pics I mashed together for fun - it's a bit less obvious than the first rose bush ones because these pics are both already quite busy - but I still like it. Gives the idea of running through a rose garden, no?

Midway through the editing process, (I had created a fill layer over my photograph) and I was like - "this isn't the end result I'm looking for at all - but... look how pretty it is!"

Before everyone emails to tell me - i know this picture is blurry.
But i really like the colours so I couldn't stop myself.

Then, just before it got too chilly, we stopped off and had a delicious glass of red wine on the sidewalk at one of our local village pubs. Even though we were on detox week - "look at all these amazing red leaves! Wow, look at that pub selling amazing red wine! It's a sign."

Perfecto.

ombre

There is a trend overtaking the internet currently for "Ombre hair" - which is that style which is usually darker on top/roots and slightly lighter (or multi) coloured at the ends. I'm a fan. If you're still not sure - Ombre-ala-pinterest:

and
FYI, I was rocking the ombre look way before it was cool.
I call it "re-growth"
Photobucket
(also, rocking a giant bowl-glass of wine.)

Anywhoo, contrary to popular belief "ombre" doesn't mean "cool hair" it is actually a french word which is used to describe a variation in colour tone - mainly shaded or graduated. So jumping on the ombre band-wagon I've been playing around with a few different gradient fill techniques in photoshop:

If you'd like to give them a go - there is a very quick and easy tutorial up on Pugly Pixel. Otherwise you can just wing it - new fill layer > gradient fill layer and then smash up some different colours to replace the default black gradient until you get something you fancy. Easy? Easy.

The pics I used -
1. From our recent backpacking trip through Cambodia - some of the temples at Angkor Watt.
2. A model shoot I did for a Korean photographer. A whole bunch of lols. Read here.
3. From a market in uBud, Bali taken about two years ago.

The lyrics in the pics come from Milo Greene - 1957.
your house that sits behind me
is covered in ivy green
the windows that we watch from
are old and chipping at the beam

it takes me away
takes me away
takes me away

the scent you wear moves in lines
from your apartment into mine
you act like you don't know me
my god you tempt my anxious mind

it takes me away
takes me away
takes me away

Would it be much better if I knew nothing about you
Would it be much better if I knew nothing about you

I'll go, I'll go, I'll go I...
I'll go, I'll go, I'll go I...

it takes me away
takes me away
takes me away

Awesome Sauce

I was meant to post this ages ago... but i am only posting it now.. haha :)

On my birthday, I arrived in my apartment just after lunch and found a strange package wrapped in Christmas paper in my fridge. On top of the Christmas package there was a CD. Anyone coming home to find a CD in their fridge is bound to be a tad suspicious.

Photobucket
Actually I felt like I was in some kind of Spy movie with secret operative agendas that were hidden in the CD in my fridge.
Photobucket
Check the coast for possible enemy spies and possible sources of the 'secret operatives CD'.
Photobucket
Displace ideas that frozen CD may in fact be from across enemy lines and in actual fact a terrorist bomb.
Use warm breath to heat up CD. Rub CD on body. Put CD into computer:

Inside the Christmas package was a container of delicious mince sauce made by the awesome Paddy who has taken it upon himself to try and save me from my own cooking catastrophes. This was a truly amazing and valiant effort. The perfect birthday gift for she who cannot boil an egg. Thank you so much Paddy :)

We will wait and see how it goes....

It was Paddy's birthday yesterday - so it seemed appropriate to post this today :)

ps. sorry for the in-house post. it's a photoshop/design thing :)
